What are student services in colleges and universities? Many schools offer academic support, health centers, campus housing and more services, offices and resources to make the most of your college experience. Find a list of common student services for academic, career and wellness support.

Student services in colleges and universities are designed to support students in various aspects of their academic, personal and professional lives.

These services help students succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

The University of Cincinnati offers a vast variety of support services for students at the university and college/program level. Be sure to look within your specific college for more resources, like UC Blue Ash, UC Clermont and the CECH Student Services Center, to name a few.

Here's a breakdown of what you can typically expect:

  • Tutoring: Many universities offer free tutoring and resources in subjects like writing, math and science. You can meet with a tutor for help with assignments or to better understand course material.

  • Writing centers: These centers help with everything from brainstorming essay ideas to proofreading your papers, and they can usually assist at any stage of the writing process.

  • Study groups: Some universities set up peer-led study groups where you can collaborate with classmates to review material.

  • Shuttle services: Many campuses offer shuttle buses or transit passes to make getting around easier.

The Bearcat Transportation System provides free shuttle service for UC students, with 20 shuttles covering 16 routes.
