Uncovering City Life in Pompeii: Dr. Steven Ellis Leads University of Cincinnati Excavations

Roman archaeologist and UC Classics Associate Professor Steven Ellis directed excavations in the Porta Stabia neighborhood of the ancient city of Pompeii, which was entombed by volcanic ash after an eruption in 79 A.D. His discoveries are shaping what we know about the city’s class structure, economy and culture.Now he is lending his expertise to a new exhibit on Pompeii at the Cincinnati Museum Center.The Cincinnati Museum Center's Pompeii: The Exhibition opens Feb. 16 through July 28 at Union Terminal.
