Lindner alum qualifies for World Track Championships

Annette Echikunwoke, MS ’19, recently finished third in the hammer throw at the 2022 USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships, qualifying her for this month’s World Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Annette Echikunwoke, MS ’19, recently finished third in the hammer throw at the 2022 USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships, qualifying her for this month’s World Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Echikunwoke, a paid search specialist for Empower, earned a bachelor's of science in actuarial science from the College of Arts and Sciences in 2018 prior to garnering a master's of science in marketing from the Carl H. Lindner College of Business.

In 2021, Echikunwoke set four successive Nigerian and African records in the hammer throw, and was ranked seventh in the world in this event. She qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics and won the 2017 NCAA title in the weight throw, becoming UC’s first national champion in track and field.

Echikunwoke was a PACEsetter awardee at the 2022 Cincinnati Business Achievement Awards. This award recognizes alumni who practice professionalism, academics, character and engagement (PACE) in both their professional and personal lives.
